About Fiat
The Fiat brand was born in in Italy in July of 1899. The brand crossed the Atlantic in 1908 when it opened its first facility in the U.S. Fiat quickly established itself as a luxury item in America. Twice the brand almost met disaster. The first following WWI when its factories were briefly held by workers of the Italian Socialist Party in 1921 and again during WWII when production nearly ceased as Fiat shifted to manufacturing commercial and military vehicles, aircraft, weapons, and machinery for the war effort. In 2009, Chrysler Corporation acquired Fiat, reinstating it in the American market and today it is still surprising buyers with its luxury and unmistakable Italian style.
